As Jay Inslee said, “We are standing at the edge of history.” Today, it was announced that there are now enough votes in the State Legislature to bring marriage equality to our state. But one candidate still supports discrimination against same-sex couples. Rob McKenna doesn’t believe that all Washington couples deserve equal rights. And now that marriage equality is dominating the public conversation, Washingtonians are taking a hard look at his long record of discriminating against same-sex couples. As attorney general, McKenna strove to cement discrimination into state law by vigorously defending the anti-equality “Defense of Marriage Act.” Prior to defending DOMA, he even equated marriage equality to polygamy and incest.
